All the pre-match talk was billed as 'Jocks Return', and the haggis muncher turned up dressed up to the nines in his Old Mods shirt and tie. Waiting to greet him at the door was, much to the delight of the Viscounts Army, the Costello twins and Joost Van Der WestHarry. They had spread the word at Colts training, and fetched another lad called Johnny down.
So the 'Counts headed to Pool Road in a dashing blue kit only to find car parking at a premium thanks to some ridiculous, flimsy fencing in the way. Anyway, the guys took on Old Mods (or should that be Leeds Uni?) and felt we were due a win against them after getting our arse whipped earleir on. On a bit of a sticky pitch, the 'Counts scored 1st when Mahony- who is turning into a bit of a try machine, got over in the corner, followed by Cossie#1. The 2nd was converted agin by Beefy with the Skipp still on the sidelines. Old Mods came back with a period of pressure and got a try and penalty, and magnificent defence kept them out on the HT whistle.
HALFTIME VISOCUNTS 12-10 OLD MODS
The 2nd half started with an early try for Cossie#2 then the 'Counts struggled to get out of their own 22. A lot of kicks went out on the full with the wind playing havoc. Some usual silly decisions helped to keep the pressure on us before some great runs by the Cossie boys, and in particular Spocky got us to halfway. From a scrum on halfway, Beefy broke through, handed off the fullback to crash over and convert. The handoff pleased the packed Western Terrace, as the ginger fullback had been the butt of the joke for the afternoon!! Almost straight from the kickoff, one of the Cossie's ran with it and put a chip over. Bionic '69er specialist' Ads hacked through. And again. And again. And again! Then he dived on top it to score!! Brilliant try. Only 5 minutes before, Ads and Beefy had been moaning to each other that they were skint and they were not going out on saturday night. The last sight of these two reported to the Blogger was at 1.30 staggering out of the Rose and Crown, with part-time Viscount Jordi, fucking arseholed. Obviously both had benn pleased to score!

The Blogger also managed to secure a few details of the Cossie's and Harry playing on sunday for the Colts. I am informed they hammered Hull Ionians, and Cossie#2 put the biggest hit of the year in.

v AIREBOROUGH 3rds 17/1/09
Happy New Year to all bloggers and bloggettes, how are we?
'09 has started a bit of a waste of time with the weather and that messing all the fixtures up, although the Blogger was very pleased when last weeks phone call came at 11am on the morning of the game to say it was too frosty up at Wharfedale to play. After the skinfull that I had guzzled on the friday night, this was possibly the greatest news I have ever heard. Anyway more pressing issues now. We got a game in on saturday against locals Aireborough, the Viscounts dressing room was boosted by Gaffers lad Harry playing at scrum half, and the Costello twins playing in the back row. Gareth Guyers came down again meaning we had 18 fellas ready to burn off that excess Xmas fat. Judging by the waistline of various Viscounts, this game couldnt come soon enough!!
The game started with a textbook error by Beefy, his little fat legs couldnt kick the ball the required 10. Then after 3 minutes of Aireboro attack, disaster struck when an 'Boro player broke his arm quite badly and required an ambulance. The lads arm snapped in a maul, and came to rest on the back of the grounded Wheelybin. A 50 minute delay finished with the lad on his way to BRI and the teams agreed on 20 each way.
Step forwards Cossie and Cossie (aka The Chuckel Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, Ant and Dec, Beavis and Butthead). The watching Skipp and co were watching a masterclass in action with these two charging round giving it large. They were everywhere. When the ball did go to ground, Joost Van De WestHarry was throwing bullets to Beefy, Spocky, GG or anyone that was stood in his way. Close efforts from Knibbs and Mahony came before Cossie#1 scored in the corner. Chilts scored in the opposite corner. Cossie#2 scored in the corner, with Beef converting 2.
HALFTIME VISCOUNTS 19-0 AIREBOROUGH
Aire came strongly at the start of the 2nd twenty, to which Cossie#2 silenced them with another try, converted by Beef. GG then scored 2 tries, the first in the corner again, and the 2nd started in the Viscounts 22 and was at a guess 15 passes later (the ball stayed away from Chilts' wing) under the posts in Gaz' arms. One of the best Viscounts tries ever according to Skipp. Beef knocked the ball over and the final whistle went
FULLTIME VISCOUNTS 38-0 AIREBOROUGH
A bit of a shitter with the lads arm and that, but credit to 'Boro for still wanting to play. Bad news back at CG too with the 1st team getting arse raped again, and young Ross Bannatyne dislocating his hip whilst playing for the Saracens- that sounds a bad one mate so get well soon. Good job the 'Counts keep doing the biz or nobody would be in the club!
